Investigators are delving into Crooks’ activities in the days and hours leading up to his attempt. Crooks visited the location of the Trump rally twice, had images of both Trump and President Joe Biden on his cell phone, and his search history included dates of the Democratic National Convention and upcoming Trump events, according to three US officials.
Despite examining Crooks’ physical and digital footprints, investigators have yet to uncover the motive behind why the 20-year-old ascended a roof in Butler, Pennsylvania, armed with an AR-style weapon.
Crooks also conducted online searches about major depressive disorder, as officials disclosed to Congress during briefings on Wednesday.
