Israel’s national emergency medical service, Magen David Adom (MDA), is on high alert following an IDF strike that killed Hezbollah leader Fuad Shukr in Beirut. This action came after a rocket attack over the weekend that killed 12 Israeli children and teens in Majdal Shams, a town in Israel’s Golan Heights.
Hezbollah confirmed Shukr’s death only on Wednesday, the same day Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was also killed.

Aryeh Myers, a paramedic with MDA, told Fox News that the service is ready with ambulances and volunteers in case of further attacks. They are prepared for various emergency scenarios, including terror attacks and natural disasters.
Since the October 7 Hamas attack, which killed over 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostage, MDA has launched the Magen Project. This initiative trains civilians in basic lifesaving skills to help in emergencies before professional responders arrive.

The MDA, with about 33,000 volunteers, ensures its emergency vehicles are staffed around the clock. Community preparedness has increased, with many seeking additional trauma care training. Israel recently completed a national drill to prepare for potential blackouts.
MDA aims to have trained community teams across the country to provide immediate care during emergencies.
