An Indianapolis man has been sentenced to 145 years in prison for killing four people, including a 7-year-old girl, and shooting his ex-girlfriend after a fight over her federal COVID-19 relief money.
Malik Halfacre, 28, received his sentence on Friday, according to the Marion County prosecutor’s office.
In June, Halfacre admitted guilt to four murder charges and one attempted murder charge related to the March 2021 shootings at a home in Indianapolis.
His ex-girlfriend was injured, and the bodies of her 7-year-old daughter, her mother, brother, and a male cousin were found in the house. Halfacre and his ex-girlfriend had a 6-month-old daughter at the time of the shootings, but she was not harmed.
Prosecutors said the argument was over the stimulus money she had received. After the shooting, Halfacre took the money, her purse, and her car, then left with their young daughter. He was later arrested hiding in a friend’s attic, while the child was safely found at a relative’s home.
