Biden Doubts Peaceful Transfer of Power if Trump Loses Election

President Biden has expressed strong doubts about whether there will be a peaceful transfer of power if former President Trump loses the upcoming election. In his first interview since exiting the 2024 race, Biden discussed his concerns with CBS News.

Biden told CBS’ Robert Costa that he is “not confident at all” about a smooth transition, referencing the January 6 Capitol riots and recent remarks by Trump. He criticized Trump for his statements suggesting a potential “bloodbath” if Democratic policies continue, and for efforts to influence local vote counting.

The interview will air on ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ this Sunday. This is Biden’s first public interview since announcing he would no longer seek re-election more than two weeks ago.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who Biden endorsed as the Democratic nominee, has yet to give any interviews since her nomination. Harris recently selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate for the November election against Trump and his VP pick, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio.
