CENTCOM reported that between Sunday evening and Monday evening, U.S. forces destroyed three Houthi drones launched from Yemen over the Gulf of Aden. Additionally, they took out three other Houthi weapons and vessels in the same time frame.

The announcement also mentioned the destruction of a Houthi unmanned surface vessel, an unmanned aerial vehicle, and an anti-ship ballistic missile in the Red Sea. These weapons were considered a significant threat to U.S. and coalition forces as well as merchant ships in the region.

CENTCOM criticized the Houthis, backed by Iran, for their “reckless and dangerous” actions, which are seen as threatening regional stability.

Earlier on Monday, a senior U.S. official confirmed that a U.S. drone strike in Iraq on July 30 killed a Houthi drone specialist. This confirmation followed injuries to several U.S. personnel in a suspected rocket attack at the Ain al-Asad air base.

Tensions in the Middle East have been rising due to recent conflicts, including a Hezbollah attack in the Golan Heights and the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. On Monday, CENTCOM commander Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla met with Israeli Defense Forces Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant praised the meeting, emphasizing the strong U.S.-Israel relationship.
